I decided to back up everything and just keep using my laptop until it stopped booting the OS. It just told me that it was (no like SERIOUSLY this time, dude) going to stop working soon. A short while after installing it, it began to tell me that it was going to torch all my shit, so I just stopped using any of my computers and started reading a lot of comic books.Īfter some time, I got the courage up to turn on my PC and, lo and behold, it worked. I re-installed Windows 7, only to realize that there really wasn't as much time left on the RC as I had thought. I couldn't even get a connection when I hooked up to a LAN cable this time, so I gave up. I did so, and the problem just got worse.

I was slowly chipping away at the problem, but, eager to use my new laptop, I decided to install an OS that was always a home run with me: FLP. I don't think I ever realized how many things need their own drivers. I did have to physically plug it in to the network to get online and get a driver for the built-in wireless card, but I felt that was a minor setback.

It worked surprisingly well, and I didn't foresee finding all the individual little drivers to be much of a problem, so I kept it. I knew that there was still some time left on the Windows 7 RC, so I thought I'd try installing that and see how the old boy handled it. I was pretty pleased with it-my love of XP hasn't faded-for a while. But I figure as long as I keep lying to myself about starting free weights, it's my duty to lug it around.īefore Matt sent it off to me, he re-installed XP on it (the default and smoothest OS for it) and made sure that all of the various drivers were installed. I was happy to have my own laptop for the first time, though it is a bit of a chunk. I bought an Inspiron 6000 from Matt a while back for a nominal price. I guess I'm much more of a meddler than I ever thought I would be as far as computers go. But I guess this is the perfect place to vent about the troubles I've seen.

Welp, never thought I'd post in this blog again.
